About the Board of Health

The Board of Health is an autonomous body appointed by the mayor to make public health policy for the Township. We operate under the regulation of the New Jersey Department of Health and are empowered to enact local health ordinances for the prevention of disease and to improve the health of the Township and its residents.

  The Mahwah Board of Health is seeking a qualified Mahwah resident to fill a vacancy on its Board.  The Board meets at 7:00pm in the Mahwah Senior Center, on the second Tuesday of each month (excepting February and August).   Meetings run approximately one hour.    The term of this seat runs through December 31, 2024.

  Qualified candidates may have backgrounds in such diverse fields as public health, medicine or pharmacology, environmental health or remediation, animal husbandry, hospitality or food safety.   Preference will given to physicians (practicing or retired).
